Personal life
Esha is the first daughter of veteran actors Dharmendra and Hema Malini, half-sister to actors Bobby Deol and Sunny Deol, and cousin to actor Abhay Deol. Her younger sibling, Ahana Deol is planning to enter Bollywood as a director, not as an actress like the rest of her family.
She attended Jamnabai Narsee School, where she excelled at soccer. She is also an accomplished Bharatanatyam dancer and was trained by her mother, who is a famous exponent of that particular dance form herself.
She speaks Tamil fluently.
Career
Her debut film, Koi Mere Dil Se Poochhe, did not do well at the box office, but her performance was noticed, and she won the Filmfare Best Debut Award. She starred in a number of films over the next two years, but none of them succeeded. She finally had her first big hit with Dhoom (2004).
This was followed by a Karan Johar and Shahrukh Khan joint production, Kaal which was her second hit. Her next hit films were Boney Kapoor’s No Entry which was declared the highest grosser of 2005. [1] and the action thriller Dus. She is set to star in her mother’s next directorial venture with Rekha and Abhishek Bachchan and also a film in which her mother and her will be starring together in for the first time.
